The Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced its highly anticipated host committee for the 2025 Met Gala, and the lineup is nothing short of spectacular. This year’s committee brings together icons from fashion, music, sports, and film, all united to celebrate the undeniable impact of Black creativity on style and culture. Among the esteemed members are fashion legend Dapper Dan, track star Sha’Carri Richardson, and R&B sensation Usher.
A Star-Studded Celebration of Black Creativity
The Met Gala, set to take place on May 5, 2025, is the annual fundraiser for the museum’s Costume Institute and is known for its extravagant themes and A-list guest list. The event’s co-chairs include Pharrell Williams, A$AP Rocky, Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, Anna Wintour, and honorary chair LeBron James, all of whom will preside over the night’s festivities.
The 2025 host committee continues the tradition of highlighting Black creatives from various industries. This year’s members include:

Sha’Carri Richardson and Usher Speak on the Impact of Fashion
Sha’Carri Richardson, known for her bold track presence and fearless style, expressed her excitement about being part of the event.
“Fashion isn’t just about what we wear—it’s about how we move, how we own our space, and how we tell our stories without words. Whether on the track, on stage, or in the streets of New York, style brings us together. On May 5, our light will shine on the power of fashion like never before,” Richardson shared.
Similarly, Usher, who continues to cement his legacy in both music and culture, emphasized the importance of the event’s theme.
“The Met Gala is an incredible tradition, and this year’s theme is more relevant than ever. Black fashion, creativity, and culture should always be celebrated on the grandest scale,” Usher stated.
A Tribute to Black Dandyism: “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”
The 2025 Met Gala will follow the dress code “Tailored For You,” inspired by the exhibition “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The showcase explores the evolution of Black dandyism—a cultural movement blending elegance and resistance through fashion.
According to Andrew Bolton, Curator in Charge of the Costume Institute, the exhibition is a landmark moment:
“Superfine is our first menswear-focused exhibition in over 20 years, and it authentically represents our commitment to diversifying the narratives we present at The Costume Institute.”
Divided into 12 sections, the exhibition highlights key aspects of dandy style, including Ownership, Presence, Distinction, Disguise, Freedom, Champion, Respectability, Jook, Heritage, Beauty, Cool, and Cosmopolitanism.

The 2025 Met Gala and Superfine: Tailoring Black Style are supported by major brands and institutions, including Louis Vuitton, Instagram, the Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation, Africa Fashion International, and the Perry Foundation, with additional support from Condé Nast.
The exhibition will be open to the public at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from May 10 to October 26, 2025.
