Betty A. Bridges, a respected actress and the mother of Diff’rent Strokes star Todd Bridges, has passed away at the age of 83. Known for her extensive work in television, Betty Bridges left a lasting legacy both on and off the screen. She passed away on Wednesday while in hospice care at her son Todd’s home in Phoenix, as confirmed by her publicist, Elizabeth Much.

Over a career spanning four decades, Betty Bridges graced some of the most iconic television shows of her time. From guest appearances on Police Woman and Good Times to roles in Hill Street Blues, Ally McBeal, and ER, her versatility as an actress was evident. She also appeared in notable films, including A Night at the Roxbury (1998) and the documentary Building Bridges (2000), which chronicles Todd Bridges’ journey through Hollywood’s challenges.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Betty Bridges’ influence extended beyond her acting career. She was also a dedicated acting coach and manager, co-founding the Kane Bridge Academy. Her passion for nurturing talent led her to mentor numerous actors who went on to have successful careers, including Nia Long, Regina King, Sanaa Lathan, and many others. Her impact on the acting community was profound, shaping the careers of those she guided with wisdom and care.
