Jeezy and Jeannie Mai Finalize Their Divorce: A Look Back at Their Relationship

Jeezy and Jeannie Mai are officially divorced after two years of marriage and a turbulent public split. The couple, who married in 2021 and share a 2-year-old daughter, Monaco, have had a whirlwind relationship marked by both joyful and challenging moments.

Divorce Details

According to court documents obtained by ET, Jeannie Mai claimed she suffered physical abuse during her marriage to Jeezy, accusations which Jeezy vehemently denied as “false and deeply disturbing.” The divorce was initiated by Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, citing irreconcilable differences. He stated in the documents that they had been separated with “no hope for reconciliation” and mentioned the existence of a prenuptial agreement. Jeezy is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their daughter, Monaco.

Relationship Timeline

Getting Together:

Jeezy and Jeannie Mai first met when Jeezy appeared as a guest on Jeannie’s daytime talk show, The Real. Their relationship became public in January 2019, a few months after Jeannie finalized her divorce from her first husband, Freddy Harteis. Initially hesitant to label their relationship, Jeannie shared on The Real that she and Jeezy were just “having a good time together.”

Going Public:

Later in 2019, the couple made their relationship Instagram official. Jeezy expressed his happiness in an interview with ET, subtly acknowledging Jeannie. The pair quarantined together during the COVID-19 pandemic and got engaged on March 27, 2020. Jeezy had planned to propose during a trip to Vietnam, but the plan changed due to the pandemic. Instead, he recreated a Vietnamese-themed evening at home for the proposal.

Despite this setback, Jeezy supported Jeannie through her recovery, updating fans on her condition during an appearance on The Real.

Welcoming Monaco:

The couple welcomed their daughter, Monaco, in January 2022. Despite their joyous addition, the relationship faced significant challenges leading to their eventual separation and divorce.

The finalization of their divorce closes a significant chapter in their lives, marked by both beautiful moments and public controversies.
