Jodie Turner-Smith Breaks Silence on Ex Joshua Jackson Dating Lupita Nyong’o: ‘Good for Them’

Jodie Turner-Smith has opened up about her recent divorce from Joshua Jackson and his new relationship with actress Lupita Nyong’o. In an interview with The Cut on June 14, the 37-year-old actress expressed her focus on “peacefully” co-parenting their daughter, Juno Rose Diana Jackson, 4, and her hopes for her ex’s happiness.

Turner-Smith and Jackson, 46, were married for over three years before the actress filed for divorce in October 2023. The split came as both were on “different paths.” Following their separation, Jackson and Nyong’o, 41, were spotted together, holding hands in Joshua Tree, California.

When asked about Jackson’s new relationship with the Black Panther star, Turner-Smith responded positively, “Good for them. We need happiness in order to peacefully co-parent.”

She further compared her situation to the amicable divorce of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, who famously “consciously uncoupled” in 2014. “I’m trying to get us to the Gwyneth and Chris Martin level. I truly hope they’re happy and that it benefits us as a family,” Turner-Smith added.

During the interview, Turner-Smith shared insights into her daughter’s personality, showcasing a video where Juno declares, “I want to be a warrior mother because I’m strong.” Turner-Smith explained the significance behind her daughter’s name, inspired by the Roman goddess Juno Sospita. “I look at that picture often and remind myself that this is the energy I named her after,” she said.

In November 2023, Turner-Smith and Jackson agreed to joint physical and legal custody of their daughter, with neither party required to pay child support. Reflecting on her co-parenting approach, Turner-Smith emphasized the importance of peace, grace, and love. “Peace is what’s needed right now. Grace is what’s needed right now. Love, empathy, compassion. I’m trying to be all those things and have faith that when I’m all those things, I will see that reflected back toward me,” she stated.

Turner-Smith and Jackson first met in 2018 at Usher’s birthday party and married in August 2019. They welcomed their daughter Juno in April 2020. Since the divorce, Turner-Smith has not been publicly linked to anyone new.

As Turner-Smith navigates this new chapter, she remains committed to creating a positive and loving environment for her daughter, while wishing the best for her ex-husband and his new relationship.
