As music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs faces a string of serious allegations involving sex trafficking, racketeering, and sexual assault, his mother, Janice Combs, has broken her silence to defend her son. In a statement released through her attorney, Natlie G. Figgers, Janice expressed deep anguish over the public treatment of her son, condemning what she perceives as premature judgment before he has had the chance to present his side in court.
“It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies,” Janice stated. “To bear witness to what seems like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words.” Her statement conveyed a mother’s pain, pointing out that the court of public opinion had rushed to conclusions based on allegations, not facts.
However, Janice did not shy away from acknowledging that her son has made mistakes in the past. She referenced a 2016 incident where Diddy was captured on hotel surveillance footage physically assaulting his then-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura. “I am not here to portray my son as perfect because he is not. He has made mistakes in his past, as we all have,” Janice admitted. She further elaborated that her son hadn’t always been forthcoming about certain actions, particularly in denying past violence, despite clear evidence to the contrary.
The legal troubles facing Combs were amplified last year when his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, filed a lawsuit accusing him of rape, sex trafficking, and years of physical abuse. Although the lawsuit was quickly settled out of court, Janice offered some insight into why her son might have made that decision. “Sometimes, the truth and a lie become so closely intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit one part of the story, especially when that truth is outside the norm or is too complicated to be believed,” she explained.

According to her, the complexity of the situation may have led her son’s legal team to settle the case rather than drag it through a prolonged court battle. She suggested that the settlement had been misinterpreted as an admission of guilt, setting off a chain of events that has only worsened his legal predicament.
In the wake of the settlement, more women have come forward with accusations against Combs. Dawn Richard, a former bandmate, accused him of sexual assault, battery, and false imprisonment, while other women, including Liza Gardner, Joi Dickerson-Neal, and Crystal McKinney, have made similar claims. These new allegations have added to the already substantial legal challenges that Combs is facing.
Despite the mounting accusations, Janice Combs remains firm in her belief that some of these claims are driven by financial motives. “These individuals saw how quickly my son’s civil legal team settled his ex-girlfriend’s lawsuit, so they believe they can receive a quick payday by falsely accusing my son,” she remarked. Janice also expressed concern about the broader consequences of false accusations, arguing that such claims could undermine the efforts of genuine victims of sexual violence. “False allegations of sexual assault thwart true victims from getting the justice they deserve,” she warned.
While Sean Combs continues to fight these accusations, his mother’s defense offers a glimpse into the emotional toll this legal battle is taking on his family. As the case progresses, the public will be watching closely to see how it unfolds, with both sides awaiting their day in court.
