In a new twist in the long-unsolved murder of Tupac Shakur, the late rapper’s family has reportedly hired a prominent lawyer to explore potential connections between his death and music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. This development comes as Combs himself is facing serious allegations unrelated to the case.
Combs, whose legal troubles have been making headlines recently, is currently embroiled in lawsuits and federal charges, including accusations of sexual assault, rape, and human trafficking. According to an indictment, Combs is alleged to have kidnapped and trafficked women for his own gratification. Amid these charges, the Shakur family has retained high-profile attorney Alex Spiro to examine any possible links between Diddy and Tupac’s murder. Spiro is best known for representing actor Alec Baldwin in an involuntary manslaughter case.
Tupac Shakur was fatally shot in 1996 while riding in a car on the Las Vegas Strip. For decades, the murder remained unsolved, casting a shadow over the hip-hop community. However, in 2023, police arrested Duane “Keffe D” Davis, charging him in connection with Tupac’s killing. Despite Davis being the only person formally charged, he has long maintained that Combs played a role in the planning of the assassination.
Adding to the intrigue, a detective who testified before the grand jury that indicted Davis revealed that Marion “Suge” Knight Jr., who was injured in the same shooting that claimed Tupac’s life, had allegedly told others that Combs bore responsibility for Tupac’s death—if not directly, then indirectly. Knight’s claims have since fueled suspicion surrounding Combs’ potential involvement.

With the focus now on Combs, other figures in the music industry have also weighed in. Rapper Eminem recently hinted at a possible connection in his latest track “Fuel,” linking Tupac’s murder to that of Christopher Wallace, known as The Notorious B.I.G., who was shot and killed just months after Tupac. In his lyrics, Eminem draws a line between the two tragedies, stating, “Notorious B.I.G.’s death was a result of Tupac’s murder… Until Puff is in handcuffs, guilty, will he step up?”
This isn’t the first time Eminem has suggested Combs’ involvement in Tupac’s death. In his 2018 diss track “Killshot,” the rapper boldly stated, “The day you put out a hit is the day Diddy admits he had Tupac killed.”
Despite the growing speculation, Combs has consistently denied any involvement in Tupac Shakur’s murder. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, which has been handling the investigation since Tupac’s killing, has confirmed that Combs has never been officially named as a suspect. Nevertheless, with a new attorney on the case and Combs already facing serious legal battles, the potential for new revelations has left many wondering whether the long-standing mystery surrounding Tupac’s death may finally be resolved.
