Tyler Perry is turning the page on love, loss, and healing with his newest series Divorced Sistas, an original drama that expands his hit Sistas universe and puts a fresh spotlight on the complexities of Black womanhood after heartbreak. Set to premiere on June 9—the same night as the 2025 BET Awards—Divorced Sistas is the first series under Perry’s newly extended multi-year partnership with BET Media Group.
Described as both raw and reflective, the series follows five women—Rasheda, Geneva, Naomi, Tiffany, and Bridgette—who are bound not only by friendship but by the emotional scars of divorce. As they attempt to reclaim their joy, redefine love, and rebuild their identities, the story delves into the messiness of healing and the fierce loyalty that emerges when women hold each other through their worst and best moments.
“This story is deeply personal,” said Perry in a press statement. “It’s about resilience, about what it means to come undone and then re-emerge stronger—with your sisters beside you. I hope viewers will see themselves in these women and walk away feeling seen, empowered, and maybe even a little lighter.”
True to Perry’s signature style, Divorced Sistas blends drama with moments of levity, rooted in the everyday realities of Black women. The cast features a powerhouse ensemble: LeToya Luckett, Khadeen Indréa, Porscha Coleman, Briana Price, and Jennifer Sears step into the central roles, while RonReaco Lee, DeVon Franklin, Donovan Christie Jr., and Robert Christopher Riley support the series with layered performances.
For BET Media Group, the series represents more than just another hit—it’s a cultural investment. “Tyler Perry has delivered unmatched, record-breaking content for BET year after year,” said Scott Mills, President and CEO of BET Media Group. “With Divorced Sistas, he expands on a universe that has already resonated so deeply with our viewers. It’s honest, it’s necessary, and we’re proud to launch it during such a historic moment—BET’s 45th anniversary and our biggest night of the year.”
Produced by Tyler Perry Studios, the show will debut on BET on Monday, June 9, and stream exclusively on BET+ starting Tuesday, June 10.
With Divorced Sistas, Perry isn’t just telling another story—he’s opening the door for new conversations about what it means to start over, and who you lean on when life unravels. If the success of Sistas is any indication, this new series is poised to capture hearts—and maybe even stir a few soul-deep truths along the way.
