Whoopi Goldberg has responded to former President Donald Trump’s latest insults aimed at her and her fellow co-hosts of The View. During a rally in Reading, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, Trump referred to the panelists as “really dumb people” after they hosted an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris earlier in the week. He went on to share an anecdote about hiring Goldberg for a comedy gig at one of his casinos, criticizing her performance as “filthy” and “disgusting.” He also claimed that Goldberg once encouraged him to run for president.
In response, Goldberg and her co-hosts didn’t shy away from addressing Trump’s remarks on Thursday’s episode of The View. Walking out to Christina Aguilera’s song “Dirrty,” the hosts immediately took a dig at the former president.
“So, we walked out to ‘Dirrty’ by Christina Aguilera because it’s one of the words You-Know-Who used when he was talking about me, specifically, but he was talking about all of us at his rally,” Goldberg said, referring to Trump, who she often calls “You-Know-Who” instead of using his name directly.
Goldberg, 68, didn’t hold back, pointing out that Trump had hired her for multiple events over the years. “I was filthy, and I stand by that. I’ve always been filthy, and you knew that when you hired me,” she quipped. “I headlined at your casino, and I might’ve kept playing there had you not run it into the ground. How dumb are you? You hired me four times.”
She went on to double down on her criticism, mocking Trump’s own judgment: “You didn’t know what you were getting? How dumb are you?”

Fellow co-host Sunny Hostin joined in the fun, sarcastically thanking Trump for the “daily material” he provides for the show. “Donald Trump, I want to thank you for telling so many lies and committing so many alleged crimes, giving us material daily. You help us do our jobs, and I’m so appreciative,” she said, before inviting him on The View. She added a playful jab, promising to “even give you a mug, not to be confused with a mugshot,” in reference to the 34 felony counts Trump is currently facing in New York courts.
Alyssa Farah Griffin, the show’s sole conservative co-host and former Trump White House communications director, also chimed in, pointing out Goldberg’s achievement as an EGOT winner (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony) while Trump, in her words, is “triggered by women” and “lost the last election and can’t admit it.” Griffin resigned from her White House role after the January 6 insurrection, in protest of Trump’s false claims about the 2020 election.
With their usual wit and humor, The View hosts made it clear that they weren’t backing down from Trump’s latest round of insults, standing firm against his critiques while continuing to take shots of their own.
