Native New Yorkers Nia Long and Busta Rhymes have been announced as part of the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s 2025 class, solidifying their legacies in the entertainment industry. The announcement, made on Monday, highlighted the inclusion of these Brooklyn natives along with over 30 other stars across various categories.

Nia Long is being honored in the motion picture category. Long, renowned for her roles in films like “Love Jones,” “Soul Food,” and the “Best Man” franchise, shared her excitement and gratitude on social media. “My mother used to tell me when I was a little girl I would have a star on the HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME one day,” she wrote. “I never really believed it was possible. Life was hard back then. Today a dream came true for both of us. I’m so grateful to be included with this amazing group of artists. Thank you, Jesus!!! Busta Rhymes, born Trevor George Smith Jr., will be recognized in the recording category. The East Flatbush, Brooklyn native joins an illustrious group that includes Prince, The Isley Brothers, and Keith Urban. Busta Rhymes has been a significant figure in the music industry, known for his unique style and influential tracks.

Fran Drescher, a Flushing, Queens native, and well-known for her role in “The Nanny,” is also part of this year’s honorees in the television category. Drescher, who currently serves as the president of the SAG-AFTRA labor unions, joins a distinguished list that includes Lauren Graham, Bill Nye, and Courtney B. Vance.

The announcement was made by music producer Jimmy Jam, actors Joe Mantegna and Niecy Nash, and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce president/CEO Steve Nissen. The Walk of Fame selection committee, comprised of past recipients, selected the 2025 class from hundreds of nominees on June 14.

Other notable honorees include Prince, Jane Fonda, and Misty Copeland. The complete list spans various entertainment categories, including motion pictures, television, live theatre/live performance, radio, recording, and sports entertainment.

The dates for the 2025 star ceremonies have yet to be set and are usually announced 10 days prior to the event.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame continues to celebrate outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry, with this year’s class reflecting a diverse range of talents and achievements.
