“There’s nothing wrong with being inspired by others, but ensure your goals align with who you genuinely want to become,” she advises.

Goal-setting coach Nisheena Clemons, founder of Phoenix Rise Wellness, emphasizes that understanding your why is critical for making resolutions stick. Clemons recommends using the S.M.A.R.T. model (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) to set goals, but with a twist: replace “achievable” with “audacious.”

“Think big and dream beyond your current limits,” Clemons encourages. “Audacious goals are rooted in purpose, and remembering that purpose can motivate you when things get tough.”

Clemons also advocates breaking goals into smaller, manageable tasks. “There’s an African proverb: ‘You eat an elephant one bite at a time.’ The same applies to your goals. Tackle them in small steps to build confidence and momentum.”

The Power of Support

Achieving resolutions isn’t a solo journey. A life coach, workshops, or empowerment groups can provide the structure and encouragement needed to stay on track. “Connecting with like-minded individuals creates collective momentum,” Clemons explains. “An accountability partner can also help you stay focused and push through challenges.”
