Snoop Dogg Launches First Cannabis Store, Pays Tribute to Tupac

Snoop Dogg has inaugurated his first licensed cannabis dispensary, S.W.E.D., near Los Angeles International Airport. The acronym stands for “Smoke Weed Every Day,” a nod to the famous line from Dr. Dre’s track “The Next Episode,” sung by the late Nate Dogg. The store, which opened on Sunday, offers a variety of regulated cannabis products such as flowers, pre-rolls, and concentrates, as reported by Forbes.

Beyond cannabis, S.W.E.D. incorporates several elements celebrating hip-hop culture, including a dedicated section for Snoop’s iconic album “Doggystyle,” a graffiti wall featuring classic Snoop quotes, and a smoke-free DJ booth where Snoop can spin records while enjoying a smoke, according to Forbes.

Snoop Dogg’s journey in music began when he was discovered by Dr. Dre. Under Death Row Records, Snoop released numerous hits, with his debut album “Doggystyle” debuting at number one on both the Billboard 200 and Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts in 1993.

Prior to S.W.E.D., Snoop launched Death Row Cannabis in 2023. Recently, Death Row Cannabis introduced a new product line honoring 2Pac, the legendary rapper and Snoop’s close friend, who was tragically killed in 1996. The 2Pac cannabis line features jarred flower products, beginning with the classic strain Alien OG, as noted by Forbes.

However, Snoop’s path to success was fraught with challenges. Speaking on the “Business Untitled” podcast, he shared that he once considered filing for bankruptcy due to financial missteps. “It was times in my career where it got so bad where my accountant was like, ‘We should just do bankruptcy,’” Snoop recalled. “And my pride got involved, like f—k that. If I say bankruptcy, then I look like I f—ked off everything.”

He continued, “They started telling me, ‘Well, this artist did it and this person did it.’ I said, ‘None of them muthafuckas Black! You ain’t name nobody that look like me!’ They can do that shit and get back in the game and it won’t look crazy. When we do it, ‘Oh, that n-gga fucked off his money, he ain’t shit.’ So now we gotta start three feet behind the line again.”

Despite these hurdles, Snoop Dogg has solidified his status as a successful artist and entrepreneur, continually expanding his influence in both the entertainment and business worlds.
