American rapper Travis Scott was briefly detained by Parisian authorities on Friday, August 9, following an alleged altercation with a security guard outside the George V hotel. The incident occurred after Scott attended an Olympic basketball game in Paris with fellow artist Quavo.
According to a statement from the Paris prosecutor’s office, the altercation involved the security guard attempting to intervene in a dispute between Scott and his bodyguard. Police were called to the scene, and Scott was taken into custody for allegedly assaulting the security guard. However, the Paris prosecutor’s office later confirmed that Scott was released without formal charges being filed, citing the minor nature of the incident.

“We can confirm that on August 9, 2024, police officers were called to the George V hotel and arrested Travis Scott for allegedly assaulting a security guard. However, due to the minor nature of the incident, no charges are being pursued,” the statement read.
A representative for Scott has since stated that they are in direct communication with local authorities to resolve the matter swiftly and that updates will be provided as necessary. No injuries were reported, and it appears the situation has been resolved without further legal consequences.
This incident comes shortly after news that a previous charge against Scott for disorderly intoxication in Miami was dropped, although a misdemeanor trespassing charge related to that case remains.
Despite the brief legal hiccup in Paris, it seems the matter has been handled without major repercussions for the rapper, who continues to make headlines for both his music and his public appearances.
