Piers Morgan has issued a public apology to JAY-Z and Beyoncé following a controversial interview on his show Piers Morgan Uncensored, which led to the power couple taking legal action. The interview, featuring musician Jaguar Wright, made explosive and unverified claims about JAY-Z, sparking outrage and prompting swift legal response from the Carters.
Jaguar Wright, known for her outspoken criticism of JAY-Z, used the platform to label the Roc Nation co-founder a “monster” and linked him to individuals with tarnished reputations like Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Epstein. These bold statements quickly caught the attention of JAY-Z and Beyoncé, who responded with a cease and desist letter, demanding that the claims be retracted.
On October 8, Piers Morgan addressed the controversy on-air, confirming that the legal notice had been sent by JAY-Z and Beyoncé’s lawyers. “Their lawyers contacted us to say that those claims were totally false, and have no basis in fact,” Morgan explained, noting that the show had decided to remove Wright’s statements from the aired interview in compliance with the legal request.
Although Morgan expressed reluctance in editing an interview on a show branded as Uncensored, he acknowledged the legal constraints. “Editing interviews is not something we do lightly, at a show called Uncensored, but there are legal limits on us too.” He then publicly apologized to JAY-Z and Beyoncé for the broadcast, stating, “We apologize to JAY-Z and Beyoncé.”

The interview, despite being edited, has stirred significant reactions within the entertainment industry. Ray J, a notable figure in the music world, expressed disappointment in Wright’s decision to appear on Piers Morgan’s show instead of his own platform. “You wanna keep taking these other n**gas’ money… and not showing love to the community? That sh*t weak as f*ck,” Ray J criticized on social media.
Meek Mill also weighed in on the matter, though his comments were more cryptic. As someone who has connections with both Diddy and JAY-Z, Meek tweeted about a “silent war” and questioned why Wright was given such a large platform to speak. “Why do these people have more of a voice than the thoroughbred people?” he asked.
While the fallout from Wright’s interview continues to echo, Piers Morgan’s apology has, for now, sought to put the legal dispute to rest.
